The movie was fake. The stereotypes are real.

THE WORST IRISH MOVIE NEVER MADE

EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum
Integrated Campaign

Stereotypes have long been used as a way of misrepresenting the Irish. We’ve come a long way, but there’s still one place in which they thrive…Hollywood.

So we decided to speak to Hollywood in their own language, creating a movie trailer filled with every tired trope imaginable. The trailer left viewers commenting “Can’t write, I got sick in my mouth”, and featured acclaimed Irish actor Peter Coonan as Paddy, the embodiment of every tired Hollywood trope imaginable: a flat cap, shamrocks, a tweed jacket, and a whiskey glass clasped in a bloody-knuckled hand.

Luckily, this movie wasn’t quite what it seemed…

It wasn’t a real trailer, and it wasn’t a real movie. It was the latest campaign for EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum, who are challenging the outdated stereotypes about Ireland, and making a point about Ireland’s true contribution to the world.
